As people live longer and healthier lives than previous generations, the ageing population continues to grow. By 2052, nearly a quarter of Canadians—24.9%—could be 65 years or older.
Most older Canadians express a strong desire to age in place, staying in their homes and communities. A 2020 survey revealed that 96% of Canadians aged 65 and older would do everything possible to avoid transitioning to long-term care facilities.
